A gymnastics activity in which the gymnast seeks to move quickly and smoothly through an area along a route, trying to get around or through various obstacles in the quickest and most efficient manner as possible, as by leaping, jumping, climbing, or running, vaulting, and rolling.
The gymnast travels through the gym, or outdoor, by surmounting obstacles such as walls and railings and leaping across open spaces.
Parkour requires strength, coordination, fitness, and trained skills to acquire all the above.
Gymnasts can compete in Club, Provincial and National Competitions, thus obtaining Provincial Colours.
The SAGF Syllabus was created to promote the safe practice of parkour, where gymnasts learn the various amount of skills to move over obstacles with speed and safety.
